  • Verify every packaged label — hummus and pita cracker packages commonly carry facility cross contact statements for egg, milk, soy, tree nuts, and wheat. Some precooked chickens contain soy or wheat.
  • Do not claim gluten free — Town House Pita Everything contains wheat.
  • Confirm every packaged product label when managing a food allergy — snack box brands drift.

Packaged ingredients change formulas — check the label on what's actually in your kitchen.

Ingredients

Method

  1. 1
    SET UP

Line up 4 divided snack boxes. Buluker pastel 4-compartment boxes shown — the same set featured on Favorites → Snack Box Essentials.

  2. 2
    CHIPOTLE CHICKEN

Portion 2 oz of fully cooked chipotle chicken into each box. This is the protein anchor — Costco grilled chipotle chicken was filmed at 100 cal / 16g protein per 3 oz serving.

  3. 3
    COLBY JACK

Place 1 wrapped Colby Jack snack cheese in one compartment of each box. Tillamook Colby Jack was filmed — mild flavor pairs with the smoky chicken.

  4. 4
    EVERYTHING PITA CRACKERS

1 labeled serving in one compartment. Town House Pita Everything was filmed. Pack whole for maximum crunch and let the kid break at snack time.

  5. 5
    CUCUMBER

Peel if desired and cut into age-appropriate pieces. Fill the remaining compartment. Cucumber is the second-crunch tier and the freshener.

  6. 6

HUMMUS ON THE SIDE — 1 OZ PER BOX: Split each 2-oz single-serve hummus cup between 2 boxes = 1 oz per box in a small leakproof side cup. 365 by Whole Foods Original Hummus 2 oz singles were filmed. THE FILMED SERVING SHOWS A FULL 2-OZ CUP PER BOX — that was too much. Half a cup is plenty and holds the ~300-cal / 18g-protein target.

  7. 7
    SEAL + CHILL

Snap lids on and refrigerate. Serve within 2 days. Transport with an ice pack. Keep the hummus side cup sealed separately for leak-proof travel.

Three keys to success

  1. 11 OZ HUMMUS PER BOX — HALF OF A 2-OZ SINGLE-SERVE CUP. The video shows a full cup per box; the tested portion is half. This is the honest correction from the filmed take.
  2. 2HUMMUS ON THE SIDE, NOT IN A COMPARTMENT. A side cup keeps the pita crackers and cucumber crunchy and lets the kid dip on demand.
  3. 3PORTION THE CHICKEN 2 OZ PER BOX. Costco chipotle chicken is 100 cal / 16g protein per 3 oz — 2 oz is the box-appropriate portion that keeps the total around 300 cal.
