Method
AFTER COOKING. Rest the adult steak on a clean plate, cook the children's chicken patties in the same pan, and serve the same greens and mash. The plate split is the protein and finish: cowboy butter on the adult steak, BBQ on the adult mash. No child-plate macros.

Shared base
Cook once — this part works for everyone.
- 1SEASON
Pat the 8 oz (227 g) raw ranch steak dry. Season with salt, pepper and garlic seasoning to taste.
- 2SEAR + REST
Heat a suitable skillet with a very light spray. Sear both sides, then continue cooking as needed for thickness. Verify at least 145°F with a thermometer; move to a clean plate or board and rest for at least 3 minutes.
- 3SAME PAN
While the steak rests, cook the children's chicken burger patties in the same pan, using clean utensils. Raw ground-chicken patties must reach 165°F; if fully cooked, follow the package reheating directions.
- 4HEAT THE SIDES
Prepare the greens and mashed potatoes according to their current packages. Portion one serving of each for the pictured adult plate; serve other family portions to appetite.

Three keys to success
- 1Weigh the ranch steak raw for the stated 8 oz adult-plate estimate; trim, cooked yield, and package formulations vary.
- 2Use a thermometer for the whole steak: at least 145°F followed by a 3-minute rest. The color in a photo or video does not establish temperature.
- 3Rest the steak on a clean plate or board. Use clean utensils for the chicken; raw ground-chicken patties must reach 165°F. If fully cooked, follow the package reheating directions.
