Method
STOP. Rice and broccoli are done. Bowl up the base now — adult bowls get seared beef with spicy sauce, kid bowls get meatballs or sausage with mild soy.

Shared base
Cook once — this part works for everyone.
- 1COOK RICE
Cook 1:2 ratio with bone broth instead of water. Fluff and set aside. This is your flavor foundation — don't skip.
- 2PREP BEEF
Slice thin against the grain. Toss with 1 tsp soy sauce + 1 tsp cornstarch for velveting. If you mess this up → chewy, game over.
- 3COOK BROCCOLI
High heat stir-fry or air fry. Goal: slightly charred edges, bright green, not mushy. Set aside.
Adult — Spicy Soy-Sesame
- 4SEAR BEEF
Screaming hot pan. Don't overcrowd — do batches. Quick sear 1-2 min per batch.
- 5BUILD SAUCE
Add soy sauce + beef broth + sesame oil + garlic + ginger to pan. Add chili oil or sriracha for heat. Simmer briefly.
- 6COMBINE
Return broccoli, toss quickly. Keep it glossy, not soupy. Serve over bone broth rice. Top with sesame seeds and green onion.
Kid Path — Mild & Familiar
- 4COOK PROTEIN
Heat meatballs or sausage slices separately. Light salt + minimal soy only.
- 5MILD SAUCE
Small splash soy + broth in kid pan. No chili, no sriracha. Keep it light.
- 6COMBINE
Rice + protein + broccoli (on side or mixed lightly). Keep sauce minimal.
Filmed 2026: six adult bowls, separate kid plates
This is the batch shown in the video. Keep the original four-serving recipe above for its shared-sauce method; the filmed dinner uses the same bone-broth rice but puts all soy-sesame sauce in the adult beef-and-broccoli wok. The kids chose steamed broccoli, a smaller rice portion, and Polish sausage instead of the spicy beef.
The rice base is in the Bone Broth Rice recipe.
What the filmed batch used
- About 2 lb tri-tip, trimmed to roughly 30 oz (850 g) raw beef, sliced thin against the grain
- Bone Broth Rice: six adult servings plus smaller kid portions as needed
- About 3–4 cups broccoli for the adult wok, plus steamed broccoli for the kid plates
- 3 tbsp soy sauce, 3/4 cup beef broth, and 1 1/2 tsp sesame oil
- 4–5 garlic cloves, minced; 1 1/2 tsp grated ginger; about 1 1/2 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp cooking oil total for the adult wok
- For each kid plate: one Teton Waters Ranch grass-fed beef Polish sausage
- Optional adult finish: about 1 tsp chili crisp per bowl
How the filmed version came together
- 1Cook the bone-broth rice, allowing six adult servings and additional smaller kid portions. Steam the broccoli for the kid plates separately.

Bone-broth rice beside the separate kid sausage and broccoli trays - 2Trim the tri-tip to roughly 30 oz usable raw beef. Slice thinly against the grain so it sears quickly and stays tender.
- 3Sear the beef in batches in the hot wok with the cooking oil. Avoid crowding; move the browned beef out while you build the sauce.
- 4Mix the soy sauce, beef broth, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and cornstarch. Simmer in the adult wok, then return the beef and add the adult broccoli. Toss until coated and cooked through.

Filmed adult wok with beef and broccoli in sauce - 5Divide the beef and broccoli over six adult rice portions. Heat and slice the Polish sausage for the kid plates; serve it with their smaller rice portions and steamed broccoli. Do not put the adult sauce on the kid plates.
- 6Add chili crisp to the adult bowls only after portioning. The base-bowl nutrition estimate below excludes that topping.

Chili crisp being added to a finished adult beef and broccoli bowl
Estimated per adult bowl before chili crisp: 455–490 calories and 41–42g protein. About 1 tsp chili crisp adds an estimated 40 calories, for roughly 495–530 calories topped. Beef grade, trimming, and ingredient labels affect the total. One Polish sausage is 180 calories and 10g protein; the filmed kid rice portion was not weighed, so no complete kid-plate macro is stated.

What makes it different
- 1.25 lb beef (tri-tip / flank / sirloin), sliced thin
- 1 tsp cornstarch (velveting)
- Chili oil or sriracha
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- Sesame seeds
- Green onion, sliced
Kid Path — Mild & Familiar
What makes it different
- Mini meatballs or beef sausage slices
- Small splash soy sauce + broth (NO chili)
Earth's Best mini meatballs or grass-fed beef sausage (sliced). Keep seasoning minimal.
Three keys to success
- 1Don't overcrowd the pan when searing beef — steaming instead of searing ruins it. Do batches.
- 2Don't use too much sauce — soggy rice kills the bowl. Keep it glossy, not soupy.
- 3Don't overcook broccoli — charred edges and bright green, not army green mush.

Storage and nutrition
Storage: Store rice separate from beef. Broccoli can go with beef.
